The Uttar Pradesh facility will feature two production lines and strengthen Ball Corporation’s manufacturing network as it expands its presence in India.

INDIA – Ball Corporation, the US-based aluminium packaging manufacturer, plans to establish a new beverage can manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh, India, expanding its production footprint as demand for aluminium packaging grows.
The new plant will feature two production lines and is expected to become operational by 2029, Ball Corporation said in a statement on 11 September. The facility will be the company’s third production site in India.
Ball Corporation currently operates manufacturing facilities in Taloja, Maharashtra, and Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The company did not disclose the investment required for the Uttar Pradesh project but said the facility is expected to generate strong economic value added, a measure of profitability that accounts for the cost of capital.
The expansion is backed by customer contracts, according to the company, supporting Ball Corporation’s plans to increase its manufacturing capacity and broaden its reach across India.
“Our vision is to build a plant network in India that supports our customers and reaches the majority of states across India,” said Mandy Glew, senior vice president and president for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia at Ball Corporation.
“India continues to be one of Ball’s most important strategic growth markets, and this investment reflects our confidence in the country’s long-term economic potential and the continued growth of aluminium packaging,” Glew added.
Ball Corporation entered the Indian market in 2016 and has since expanded its manufacturing footprint across multiple states. Its existing facilities produce beverage cans in various formats for global brands and domestic Indian companies.
The company has also made recent investments in its Taloja and Sri City facilities to strengthen its position in India, although it did not disclose the nature or scale of those investments.
The new Uttar Pradesh facility will add capacity to Ball Corporation’s Indian manufacturing network as the country’s beverage sector expands. The organised beverage market includes carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks and ready-to-drink teas, with aluminium cans increasingly used by domestic and multinational beverage companies.
Aluminium beverage cans are positioned as a sustainable packaging option because aluminium is infinitely recyclable without losing its quality. The recycling process also requires significantly less energy than producing new aluminium from raw materials.
Ball Corporation reported net sales of $13.16 billion in 2025. The company employs approximately 16,000 workers across more than 65 manufacturing plants and facilities worldwide, supplying packaging products to customers in the beverage, personal care and household products sectors.
