The Spanish brewer enters the coffee market with Café 170, targeting the hospitality industry as part of its diversification strategy.

SPAIN – Spanish brewing giant Mahou San Miguel has announced the launch of its first coffee brand, Café 170, which will officially enter the Spanish market in January 2026.
According to the company, Café 170 will initially target the hospitality sector and will be distributed through Mahou’s in-house distributor, Voldis. The launch marks the brewer’s first step into the coffee segment as part of a broader diversification strategy beyond beer.
The announcement follows the creation of a new coffee-focused subsidiary, Barista & Finca, last month. However, Mahou San Miguel confirmed to Just Drinks that Café 170 will operate separately under its newly established Coffee Business Unit.
In an official statement, the company said the move represents “a firm commitment to diversification beyond beer as a strategic way for its future growth.” The brewer aims to strengthen its product portfolio and position itself as one of Spain’s leading coffee operators within the hospitality channel.
Jesús Gómez Cáceres, CEO of the new coffee business, said the company intends to deliver “a unique value proposition in the world of coffee” designed specifically for hotels, restaurants, and cafés. “The goal is to be a solid ally for our customers and help them elevate their offerings and connection with consumers,” he stated.
“The first step is the launch of Café 170, a brand that combines excellence, innovation in service, and a modern and differentiating identity,” Gómez Cáceres added.
Peio Arbeloa, general business manager at Mahou San Miguel, said the company’s entry into the coffee category highlights its strategy to expand beyond beer and strengthen its leadership in the hospitality industry.
He noted that coffee complements Mahou’s existing beverage portfolio and reinforces its role as a key partner in Spain’s bar and restaurant scene.
