Suntory names seasoned beverage executive Davin Nugent to lead and accelerate its global ready-to-drink strategy.

JAPAN – Suntory Global Spirits has announced the appointment of Davin Nugent as president of its global ready-to-drink (RTD) business, as the company looks to strengthen its presence in one of the fastest-growing segments of the premium spirits market.
The appointment is part of Suntory Global Spirits’ broader ambition to become the world’s most admired premium spirits company. The RTD category has been identified as a key growth driver, supported by rising consumer demand for convenience-led and premium beverage experiences.
Nugent brings more than 25 years of experience in the global beverage industry. He previously served as global vice president of innovation at AB InBev and as chief executive officer of Mark Anthony Brands International.
Suntory said his background in RTD brand development, innovation and international market expansion positions him to lead the company’s next phase of growth in the category.
In his new role, Nugent will oversee Suntory’s global RTD portfolio, including On The Rocks Premium Cocktails and the –196 (minus one-nine-six) brand. Both brands have played a significant role in the company’s recent performance in the segment.
Suntory said its long-standing expertise across spirits and non-alcoholic beverages gives it a competitive advantage in developing high-quality RTD offerings. In 2025, the company introduced more than ten new products under the –196 brand, which is currently delivering double-digit growth in the US market.
Commenting on his appointment, Nugent said: “Suntory is world-renowned for its dedication to craftsmanship, which has solidified our leadership in the competitive RTD markets in Japan and Australia.” He added:
“As consumer demand for convenience and premium experiences continues to rise, I am excited to join the team to capitalise on this opportunity and support the long-term growth of Suntory’s RTD business.”
Greg Hughes, president and chief executive officer of Suntory Global Spirits, said Nugent’s appointment would help sharpen execution across the portfolio. “Our aspiration is to be the #1 RTD company globally by enhancing our capabilities to quickly optimise taste and design for local markets,” Hughes said.
He added: “I am confident Davin will help us sharpen our focus on executing our RTD priorities, building momentum for our brands around the world, and further strengthening our position in this critical category.”
Nugent holds a degree in History and Politics from University College Dublin and a master’s degree in media and communications from the London School of Economics.
Separately, Suntory Global Spirits confirmed in December that it will halt distillation of its Jim Beam bourbon at the Clermont, Kentucky site in 2026, while continuing operations at its other distilleries and facilities.
