UK’s DB Foods to receive US$14.7M for expansion, meat supply chain support

Paramount Retail Group invests in UK meat processor

UK – DB Foods is securing a US$14.7 million (approx. £12 million) investment to expand its operations, upgrade services and reinforce the UK meat supply chain.

The funding comes from Paramount Retail Group and is expected to help the processor increase production capacity, strengthen its infrastructure and adopt more advanced technology.

As part of the deal, DB Foods forecasts revenue growth of around US$36.9 million (approx. £30 million), while saying the investment will deliver benefits to independent butchers and food retailers across the country.

The business supplies meat to butchers, supermarkets, Wagamama and British Airways, and it is reported to serve about 1,000 butchers weekly.

DB Foods currently employs 240 people across its headquarters and production sites in Poole, UK, and the new backing is aimed at creating a more responsive service model for customers.

Supply chain focus

According to the company, the agreement also represents a step toward strengthening supply chain resilience, which it argues is vital for producers, retailers and consumers in the long term.

Paul Taylor, chair of Paramount Retail Group, said the decision to invest reflects the importance of butchers in local economies, describing them as family-run businesses that support jobs and community life.

Graeme Clapp, commercial director at DB Foods, noted that the group has been working systematically to prepare for a larger role in the retail market.

He added that discussions with Paramount began earlier this year, and the retailer’s proposal to add DB Foods to its portfolio aligned with the processor’s ambitions for growth.

The investment is set to be channelled directly into expansion projects, with the aim of positioning DB Foods for broader participation in the UK meat sector.
