J.M. Smucker promotes senior executives and streamlines leadership to support long-term growth and operational efficiency.

USA – The J.M. Smucker Co. has announced a series of executive leadership updates aimed at advancing its long-term growth strategy, strengthening execution across its brand portfolio, and enhancing profitability and earnings.
As part of the changes, Tucker Marshall, formerly chief financial officer, has been promoted to the expanded role of chief financial officer and executive vice president of
Marshall’s responsibilities will now include strategic leadership of the US Retail Frozen Handheld and Spreads, Sweet Baked Snacks, and International businesses. He has also assumed oversight of the company’s sales function.
Rob Ferguson, previously senior vice president and general manager of Coffee and Procurement, has been promoted to chief product supply officer and executive vice president of Coffee, Pet and Away From Home.
Jill Penrose, who served as chief people and company services officer, has been elevated to chief people and administrative officer and chief of staff.
Her expanded remit includes corporate strategy and chief of staff responsibilities, in addition to communications, public relations, government and industry relations, human resources, community relations, and philanthropy.
“Tucker, Rob and Jill are each proven and trusted leaders who are deeply committed to the ongoing success of the Smucker organization, and I have complete confidence in them as they step into these expanded roles,” said Mark Smucker, president, CEO and chair of the board of The J.M. Smucker Co.
“Their promotions reflect the significant contributions they have made to the company and their passion for our culture. These executive leadership updates will sharpen our focus on driving top-line growth and enhancing profitability across the company,” he added.
Alongside the promotions, Smucker announced the elimination of the chief operating officer role. John Brase, who has held the position since 2020, has transitioned from the company. Mark Smucker has also re-assumed the title of president, in addition to his roles as CEO and chair.
“I would like to thank and recognize John for the many contributions he has made to our company over the last several years,” Smucker said.
The company also revealed additional senior leadership appointments. Tim Wayne, currently senior vice president and general manager of Away From Home and International, will become senior vice president and general manager of Coffee and Away From Home, adding oversight of the coffee portfolio to his responsibilities.
Robert Crane, senior vice president and head of Sales and Sales Commercialization, will be promoted to senior vice president and head of Sales and International, assuming responsibility for the International business while continuing to lead sales and commercialization.
Wayne and Crane will assume their new roles effective July 27 and will report to Ferguson and Marshall, respectively.
Separately, Randy Day, senior vice president of Operations, and Bryan Hutson, senior vice president of Information Services and Supply Chain, have announced their intention to retire.
Both executives will remain with the company during the transition period to support continuity across operations, information services, and supply chain functions.
