Investment targets rising demand for Hubbard Efficiency Plus breed and improved feed efficiency in broiler production.

BRAZIL – Hubbard, a global broiler breeding company, announced a US$ 11.4 million investment to expand its Grandparent breeding operation in Luziânia, Goiás, aiming to meet increasing demand for the Hubbard Efficiency Plus breed in Brazil.
The company said the move follows a year in which on-farm performance validated results seen in trials, with farms reporting consistent chick output alongside more efficient feed use.
Carlos Antônio Costa, Hubbard’s General Manager in Brazil, emphasized that breeding improvements must mirror daily farm experiences, highlighting the importance of animal welfare, feed efficiency, and reliable breeder and broiler performance.
Costa added that the expansion in Luziânia is intended to provide producers with the supply needed to maintain production of affordable chicken protein across the country.
Feed efficiency has become a key consideration for broiler producers in Brazil and South America, affecting both economic outcomes and the environmental footprint of poultry production.
Using feed more efficiently reduces the area of agricultural land required and lowers emissions from feed cultivation, according to Hubbard’s operational analysis.
Uniform and well-balanced birds also support flock health, which helps maintain predictable growth rates and minimizes performance variability from hatch through market age.
By enlarging its production in Goiás, Hubbard aims to provide a stable supply of the Hubbard Efficiency Plus breed for local farms and to support ongoing production of chicken protein for growing populations.
Costa concluded that the company’s approach focuses on incremental improvements that enable producers to raise healthy, efficient birds, which, in turn, support affordable access to protein and responsible resource use for the future.
