Lead exposure, choking risks trigger baby food recalls across United States

Consumers who have purchased any of these products are advised not to feed them to babies. Instead, they should return them to the respective retailers for a full refund.

USA – Fruselva USA, a Miami-based producer, has issued a voluntary recall of 25,600 units of Good & Gather Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale, and Thyme Vegetable Puree, sold under Target’s in-house Good & Gather brand, due to elevated lead levels.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, this classification is a Class II recall, indicating that the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, with a remote probability of serious adverse health consequences.

The agency states that the products have “best by” dates of December 9, 2025, and December 7, 2025, for Lots 4167 and 4169, respectively. Consumers are advised not to feed the product to babies.

The company confirmed that the recall was initiated in March and that no impacted products are currently in circulation. Consumers can return any impacted product to a Target store for a refund or contact Target Guest Relations at 1-800-440-0680.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), no safe blood lead level (BLL) in children has been identified, and even low levels of blood lead are associated with developmental delays, difficulty learning, and behavioural issues. The effects of lead poisoning can ultimately be permanent and disabling.
