The upcoming edition of Macfrut will introduce The Healthy Food Show while welcoming a larger global presence at the Rimini Expo Centre.

ITALY – The 42nd edition of Macfrut 2025 is set to be bigger and more diverse than ever, with a 6% increase in exhibition space, hosting over 1,400 exhibitors and attracting 1,500 top buyers from around the world.
With 40% of visitors expected to come from outside Italy, the event continues to grow as a leading global platform for the fruit and vegetable industry.
These details were announced at a press conference held in Rome, where industry leaders and stakeholders gathered to discuss what’s in store for this year’s fair.
“Macfrut is increasingly confirming itself as a unique trade fair in the sector: a showcase for Italian fruit and vegetables on the global stage, a moment of gathering for the industry, and a key element for professional growth through knowledge and networking,” said Renzo Piraccini, President of Macfrut.
This year’s edition will introduce The Healthy Food Show, an event designed to highlight the importance of nutrition and fresh produce in maintaining good health.
Featuring a dedicated arena, the show will bring together scientific experts, chefs, and notable figures, including Olympic champion Valentina Vezzali, to discuss the role of fruits and vegetables in daily diets.
Growing international participation
Macfrut 2025 is expected to attract a broader international audience, with Egypt named as the official partner country. Forty Egyptian companies will take part in the exhibition, alongside strong delegations from Mali, Ghana, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
For the first time, Tanzania will also have its own dedicated stand, joining new participants from Iraq, Ecuador, and several Latin American nations, including Costa Rica and Panama.
A significant number of European businesses will also be in attendance, with Spain leading the group. The event’s extensive buyer program, organized in partnership with the ICE-Italian Trade Agency, will bring in importers from across Europe and key markets like Brazil.
Additionally, a dedicated networking platform will allow exhibitors to arrange meetings with potential buyers in advance.
A platform for industry innovations
In addition to commercial opportunities, Macfrut 2025 will serve as a hub for discussions on industry trends. Three international symposia will focus on biotechnology, potatoes, and Mediterranean aromatic plants, while a series of themed exhibitions will explore key developments in plant nurseries, sustainable farming solutions, and the tomato supply chain.
The Spices & Herbs Global Expo will return this year, hosting the International Mediterranean Symposium on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants.
Meanwhile, the event will also feature a section dedicated to agrisolar systems and water-saving technologies, reflecting the industry’s shift toward sustainability.
“This is more than just a trade fair,” Piraccini emphasized. “We are a driving force for the development of the fruit and vegetable supply chain that extends beyond the three days of the fair, offering year-round support to companies.”
With the event set to run from 6 to 8 May 2025, the anticipation continues to grow for what is shaping up to be one of the largest editions in Macfrut’s history.
The 2026 edition has also been rescheduled to mid-April to accommodate new facilities at the Rimini Expo Centre, ensuring the event’s continued expansion in the coming years.
