The new Linhares site in Espírito Santo expands ofi’s instant coffee footprint with a focus on traceability and renewable energy.

BRAZIL – Olam Food Ingredients (ofi), a business unit of Singapore-based Olam Group, has officially opened a cutting-edge instant coffee manufacturing facility in Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brazil.
The 570-square-foot site will convert beans from ofi’s nine Brazilian coffee processing plants into premium instant coffee products, including spray-dried, freeze-dried, and liquid concentrates.
The strategic investment positions ofi among the top three independent players in the rapidly expanding global soluble coffee market, which is projected to reach US$52.2 billion by 2031.
The facility will also generate significant local economic value in one of Brazil’s key coffee-producing regions.
Linhares was chosen for its proximity to Espírito Santo’s abundant Conilon coffee supply, which accounts for around 70% of Brazil’s total output.
The new plant adds to ofi’s existing soluble coffee processing operations in Spain and Vietnam and further strengthens its role as one of Brazil’s major coffee exporters.
The facility operates entirely on renewable energy, using biomass boilers that repurpose coffee production waste for power generation.
These sustainability efforts are aligned with ofi’s broader “Choices for Change” strategy, which emphasizes environmental responsibility and ethical sourcing.
Equipped with the latest technology, the facility includes an advanced Freeze Dryer that uses energy-efficient processes to produce high-quality soluble coffee. All beans processed at the plant are fully traceable, and the resulting products are certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
“This inauguration represents a triple win – for local communities, for our customers, and for the environment,” said Vivek Verma, Managing Director and CEO of Coffee at ofi.
“Processing coffee at origin enhances our integrated supply chain and builds stronger farmer partnerships while meeting global demand for traceable, sustainable coffee.”
Since entering the Brazilian market in 2002, ofi has built a robust coffee operation, exporting roast, ground, and instant coffee to customers in the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Japan.
The new site also complements ofi’s network of 19 innovation centres across its global operations in cocoa, dairy, nuts, spices, and coffee.
