Suntory launches Suntory Oceania in New Zealand

Suntory officially launches Suntory Oceania, strengthening its multi-beverage footprint across New Zealand and Australia.

NEW ZEALAND – Suntory has officially launched its new multi-beverage business in New Zealand, Suntory Oceania, marking a significant milestone in the company’s regional growth strategy across Australia and New Zealand.

First announced in August 2023, the creation of Suntory Oceania reflects Suntory’s confidence in the long-term growth potential of the Oceania market.

The new entity brings together a broad portfolio spanning premium spirits, ready-to-drink (RTD) alcoholic beverages, juice, water, soft drinks, coffee, energy drinks, and sports beverages under one integrated business.

With responsibility for the end-to-end supply chain across Australia and New Zealand, Suntory Oceania has become the region’s fourth-largest multi-beverage group. The business oversees more than 40 market-leading brands, positioning it to serve consumers across multiple beverage categories.

Brad Erceg, Chief Commercial Officer – Suntory Beverage & Food Oceania, said the launch underscores the company’s commitment to the region. “We’re building on a legacy that spans generations in both Japan and New Zealand. This is about combining the best of Suntory with deep local relevance,” Erceg said.

He added: “More than ever before, we have the power to fully leverage Suntory’s global network as we invest in local operations and our people.”

Suntory Oceania’s portfolio includes premium Japanese whiskies, Suntory -196 RTD, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Canadian Club, V Energy, Just Juice, and Suntory BOSS Coffee. The expanded local capability and capacity are designed to better meet evolving consumer demand in New Zealand.

Johnny Morgan, Senior Marketing Director, Suntory Global Spirits – Oceania, highlighted the strategic importance of the market. “New Zealand is a dynamic market with strong appetite for innovation, particularly in the RTD and premium spirits categories,” Morgan said.

“Suntory Oceania gives us the platform to ignite growth and bring world-class brands closer to Kiwi consumers,” he added.

Morgan also noted the strength of the company’s manufacturing footprint, stating: “Our combined manufacturing footprint across Australia and New Zealand complements our global production network, which includes distilleries and bottling facilities in North America, Europe, and Japan.”

He said the integration will “drive genuine innovation and foster stronger collaboration with our trade partners, allowing us to sustainably expand our core categories.”
