Uganda Breweries partners with foreign affairs ministry to export Uganda Waragi to global diplomatic missions

Uganda Breweries signs five-year deal to promote local beverages through diplomatic missions, advancing national export and branding efforts.

UGANDA – Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has signed a five-year agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to supply Uganda Waragi and other beverages to Ugandan embassies and diplomatic missions worldwide.

The partnership, announced on May 20, 2025, supports the country’s export promotion goals and the “Buy Uganda, Build Uganda” initiative.

Under the agreement, UBL will provide beverages for use at diplomatic events and offer sampling products to foreign dignitaries. The initiative aims to strengthen Uganda’s economic diplomacy by spotlighting homegrown brands at international platforms.

Speaking at the announcement, UBL Managing Director Andrew Kilonzo welcomed the collaboration, describing it as an opportunity to showcase Uganda’s authentic beverage brands globally.

He noted that the deal would contribute to both UBL’s growth and the country’s broader economic objectives, including boosting hospitality and tourism.

In addition to product supply, UBL will benefit from branding opportunities at events organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and within Uganda’s embassies. This will provide a consistent global platform for marketing local beverages to new audiences and potential investors.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vincent Waiswa Bagiire, highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to promote economic and commercial diplomacy.

He stated that the initiative supports the government’s export-led growth strategy, particularly in key sectors such as agro-industrialization and tourism.

Bagiire added that featuring Ugandan products like Uganda Waragi at official functions abroad would attract interest from foreign markets and create long-term trade opportunities.

He also confirmed that the Ministry would support UBL by facilitating product sampling for potential partners and sharing information about import-export channels.

The agreement marks a strategic step in enhancing Uganda’s presence on the global stage through the promotion of locally made products at high-level diplomatic engagements.
