Hormel Foods makes leadership changes in retail division

Paul Peil steps into new role overseeing fresh meats; Christie Crouch joins to lead snacking and entertaining brands

USA – Hormel Foods Corporation is appointing new leadership within its retail business segment, promoting long-serving executive Paul Peil and bringing in industry veteran Christie Crouch.

Peil has been named Vice President of Marketing for Fresh and Ready Meats, taking responsibility for categories including fresh pork, deli meats, the Jennie-O brand, and HORMEL® CURE 81® products.

His promotion comes after 35 years with the company, during which he held various roles in sales and marketing, including most recently serving as assistant vice president of sales for Value-Added Meats.

Peil began his career at Hormel in 1989 as a sales trainee and advanced through several sales-focused roles before moving into national account management for fresh pork in the late 1990s.

He later took on leadership positions across Hormel’s fresh-meat and retail divisions, including a directorial role at Jennie-O beginning in 2019.

Hormel’s president John Ghingo said Peil’s familiarity with the company and its product categories will support the Retail division’s ongoing efforts.

Meanwhile, Crouch is joining the company as Vice President of Marketing for Snacking and Entertaining, where she will oversee brands such as PLANTERS®, CORN NUTS®, HORMEL® pepperoni and HORMEL GATHERINGS®.

Her appointment brings external experience to Hormel, as she previously held senior roles at Conagra Brands, Kraft Foods, and Kellogg’s.

At Conagra, she served as vice president and general manager for a group of refrigerated and frozen brands, including Birds Eye, where she was responsible for expanding product offerings and steering marketing strategy.

Earlier in her career, she contributed to brand growth at Kraft and Kellogg’s, focusing on consumer engagement and portfolio management.

Crouch is a certified public accountant with an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

The changes come as Hormel aims to sharpen its brand execution across core retail categories amid shifting consumer trends.

Both executives will report directly within the Retail business unit, with a focus on improving category-specific marketing approaches.

Hormel Foods Corporation, listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker HRL, is a Fortune 500 company with a presence in various packaged and fresh food markets.

The company reported annual revenues exceeding US$12.1 billion in its most recent fiscal year.
