Burnbrae Farms to build new egg grading facility in Canada

CANADA – Burnbrae Farms is moving ahead with plans to construct a large-scale egg grading facility in Strathroy, Ontario.

The company confirmed that the development will take place in the Molnar Industrial Park and will cover more than 150,000 square feet.

Construction is set to start soon, with the site expected to be ready for operations by the end of 2026.

The facility will be equipped with advanced technologies such as automated packing, palletizing and depalletizing systems, along with an automated storage and retrieval system.

Burnbrae has contracted Michael + Clark Construction, a London-based firm, to oversee the build.

According to Ian McFall, Executive Vice President for Foodservice, Industrial Sales and Government Relations, the company has worked with Strathroy officials to secure land in the industrial park, adding that the project builds on Burnbrae’s more than four decades of presence in the area.

The new facility is also being designed with several environmental measures, including solar panels, heat recovery systems, and shore power connections for refrigerated trailers.

Company executives have said these additions align with Burnbrae’s long-term environmental plans while also supporting demand for specialty egg products.

Trevor Chang, Vice President of Operations, stated that the Strathroy site will strengthen Burnbrae’s ability to handle grading and processing needs for the Canadian market.

Local officials have welcomed the investment, with Mayor Colin Grantham noting that Burnbrae has been part of the Strathroy-Caradoc community for decades and continues to expand its role in the region.

Burnbrae Farms, which remains family-owned, is Canada’s largest egg company and has been active in egg production and processing for generations.

The Hudson family, which owns the company, has also supported a range of community programs and charities across the country.

By building this new facility, Burnbrae is expanding both its operational capacity and its long-standing presence in Strathroy.
