Uganda Airlines signs Boeing deal to strengthen passenger and cargo operations

UGANDA – Uganda Airlines has signed a commitment with Boeing to acquire eight new passenger aircraft and two converted freighters, one Boeing 767 wide-body and one Boeing 737 BCF, to strengthen passenger and cargo operations while supporting long-term growth plans.
The agreement aims to strengthen the airline’s passenger and cargo operations while tapping into growing freight demand across Africa and in international markets.
Cargo Capabilities and Regional Connectivity
The two converted freighters, one Boeing 767 wide-body and one Boeing 737 BCF, are expected to enhance the carrier’s air cargo capabilities and tap into growing freight demand across Africa and international markets.
The acquisition is expected to boost Uganda’s trade, tourism, investment, and air cargo handling capacity by expanding the national carrier’s passenger and freight operations while improving regional and international connectivity.
For fresh produce exporters and logistics operators, the addition of dedicated freighter capacity opens new export corridors for Ugandan horticulture products, including coffee, tea, flowers, and fresh fruits.
Strategic Fleet Modernization
The planned fleet expansion aligns with Uganda Airlines’ strategy to modernize its operations, improve connectivity, and position itself as a key aviation player in the region.
