Mawani adds PIL feeder service to Jeddah Islamic Port to boost Red Sea connectivity

SAUDI ARABIA – The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of global shipping company PIL’s intra-Red Sea feeder service to Jeddah Islamic Port, as the authority moves to enhance maritime connectivity between Saudi Arabia and key Egyptian ports.

This new shipping service will boost Jeddah port’s connectivity with Egypt’s Sokhna and Safaga ports, offering capacity for up to 1,261 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The strategic expansion aims to improve maritime connectivity between Saudi Arabia and key Egyptian ports, facilitating smoother trade flows across the Red Sea region.

The move is part of Mawani’s efforts to improve Saudi Arabia’s standing in global performance indicators, support national exports, and advance the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to establish the kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents, the company said in a statement.
