ADM expands Hungary beverage innovation lab

ADM is expanding its beverage innovation capabilities in Eastern Europe while investing more than US$103 million to modernize manufacturing operations in the United States.

HUNGARY – ADM has expanded its Customer Creation and Innovation Center (CCIC) lab in Hungary, doubling the facility’s size to strengthen its beverage innovation capabilities and support customers across Eastern Europe with faster product development and customized solutions.

The expanded facility adds new application resources and broadens ADM’s regional expertise, enabling beverage manufacturers to accelerate the development of products ranging from ready-to-drink beverages and coffee drinks to functional and wellness-focused formulations.

The investment comes as demand for healthier beverage options continues to grow across the region.

Industry forecasts indicate that Hungary’s non-alcoholic beverage market, valued at approximately US$3 billion in 2025, is expected to grow at an annual rate of 3.5% through 2030, with foodservice segments showing particularly strong momentum. ADM said the expanded center will help customers respond to these market trends through localized technical support and shorter development cycles.

“This investment reflects our commitment to helping customers innovate quicker by combining local expertise with ADM’s global flavor capabilities,” said Alexander Lichter, VP, Flavors EMEA.

“The expanded facility will enable us to develop customized solutions that help beverage and foodservice brands meet growing consumer demand for great taste, convenience and better-for-you products.”

The Hungary expansion also builds on the recent launch of LaSavista®, ADM’s foodservice brand, which provides ingredient systems and tailored concepts for coffee, tea and other beverage applications.

Together with ADM’s acquisition of Fuerst Day Lawson Limited (FDL) in the United Kingdom and the opening of a new flavor creation lab in South Africa, the investment strengthens the company’s global flavor network.

Separately, ADM announced plans to invest more than US$103 million in modernizing key facilities at its North American headquarters in Decatur, Illinois.

The Decatur site is one of the world’s largest integrated agricultural processing hubs, converting corn and soybeans into ingredients, fuels and nutrition products for food, beverage and industrial markets worldwide.

The modernization project is expected to create 50 new full-time jobs while retaining more than 1,000 existing positions.

The investment was announced in partnership with Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, with support from the state’s Economic Development for a Growing Economy programme.

According to ADM, the upgrades will replace aging control systems with advanced technology across soybean processing facilities and the corn wet mill.

The project will also enhance soy crushing and refining operations, improve protein production capabilities, and modernize storage and corn milling infrastructure.
