Al Rawdah expands integrated poultry operations in UAE

The company is increasing breeder capacity and renewable energy usage while maintaining a circular production model.

UAE – Al Rawdah, part of the Emirates Rawabi Food Group, is advancing its fully integrated poultry production in the United Arab Emirates, covering breeder farms, hatcheries, grow-out operations, processing, distribution, and energy generation.

The company has increased its breeder farm capacity to reduce reliance on external chick suppliers, allowing closer control over genetics, biosecurity, and production planning.

Its hatchery produces around 16 million eggs annually and supplies a major portion of Al Rawdah’s requirements, with further expansion planned alongside farm and processing growth.

Broilers are raised in 78 houses, each holding up to 25,000 birds, with upgrades underway to improve performance in temperatures that can exceed 55°C, using Cobb 500 and Ross 308 breeds for their feed efficiency and adaptability.

Processing facilities currently handle 6,000 to 8,000 birds per hour on a single shift, with infrastructure ready to expand to multiple shifts to meet rising demand.

Al Rawdah has also developed value-added production, including marination and cold-cut processing, targeting retail and HORECA channels to diversify its product portfolio.

Feed is produced in-house through the group’s feed division, using imported corn and soy from Brazil, Argentina, and the United States, with internal testing and nutritional monitoring ensuring consistency and cost control.

An on-site laboratory conducts ongoing microbiological and serological tests to monitor bird health and support biosecurity across the production cycle.

Around 30% of the farm’s energy needs are currently supplied by solar power, with plans to expand this to over 50% to lower carbon emissions and energy reliance.

Additional sustainability measures include circular waste management, manure processing, potential in-house fertilizer production, and reducing water and energy intensity across operations.

A dedicated team manages environmental compliance and energy efficiency, aligning operations with national food security and sustainability objectives.

Over 90% of Al Rawdah’s output is sold fresh and delivered within hours of processing, emphasizing quality and freshness over volume.

The company operates in line with the UAE Food Security Strategy and Vision 2051, which focus on local production and lowering import dependency.

The UAE poultry market is expected to grow 6% to 7% annually through 2028, with demand driven by expanding retail and HORECA sectors.

By expanding breeder integration, renewable energy use, and circular production practices, Al Rawdah is positioning itself as a model for sustainable local poultry production in the region.
