Arrigoni set to showcase sustainable crop protection solutions at Macfrut 2025

Arrigoni strengthens its commitment to climate-smart farming with new innovations at Rimini’s major fruit and vegetable trade show.

ITALY – Arrigoni is once again making its presence felt at Macfrut 2025, bringing forward its latest advancements in agricultural protection at the Rimini Expo Centre from May 6 to 8.

The Como-based company, known for its technical fabrics, is focusing on safeguarding fruit and wine production against the rising threats of climate change.

This year, Arrigoni is highlighting Fructus®, a specially designed polyethylene net that protects fruit crops from harmful insects and extreme weather, especially hail.

According to the company, the months from May to September are critical for fruit growers, as crops face increasing risks from both pests and harsher weather conditions.

“Hail does more than just immediate damage,” explained an Arrigoni representative. “It can break young shoots, lower leaf volume needed for photosynthesis, and leave crops more open to diseases and pests.”

Fructus® nets are made from UV-stabilised, high-tenacity polyethylene monofilament woven with a leno technique, which ensures strength and durability.

Apart from providing physical protection, these nets help create a better growing environment by lowering daytime temperatures and raising humidity levels around crops.

Arrigoni’s solutions focus not only on protection but also on sustainability. All their designs are aimed at helping farmers maintain crop quality and production potential with less reliance on chemical treatments.

Special solutions for vineyards

Recognising that vineyards are particularly vulnerable, Arrigoni is also presenting Iride Vigne, a cover system developed specifically for wine grape growers. This innovation shields vines from hail and birds while managing the effects of strong sunlight.

“Iride Vigne was developed through years of field testing,” said the company’s R&D team. “Its elastic mesh structure fits different vineyard layouts easily and keeps a safe distance between the net and grape bunches, even when hail strikes.”

The covers are simple to install and fit vineyards across various regions. By helping to form a more stable microclimate, Iride Vigne supports healthier vine growth even during heatwaves.

Growth in agrotextiles and future outlook

As agriculture faces pressures from changing weather patterns and sustainability demands, protective solutions like Fructus® and Iride Vigne are becoming more important.

According to industry data, the global agricultural textiles market is expected to grow steadily, driven by the need for reliable crop protection and more sustainable farming practices.

Climate change is pushing farmers to use advanced systems such as UV-blocking nets and microclimate control fabrics. Alongside this, investments in precision farming, automation, and biodegradable materials are increasing to reduce environmental impact.

Arrigoni’s focus on sustainability and innovation places it in a strong position for future growth. With Europe leading advancements in sustainable agriculture, the company is well-placed to continue expanding its influence across the sector.
