New additions include steak, ground products and ready-to-drink protein beverages

USA – Beyond Meat has increased the number of items in its portfolio certified by Clean Label Project to over 20, showing ongoing third-party testing for contaminants such as heavy metals and pesticides.
The company said the certification applies to several of its plant-based meat offerings, including burger, beef, steak, and chicken alternatives, as it continues to seek external validation of ingredient safety and product composition.
This latest expansion introduces additional certified products such as Beyond Steak Filet and Beyond Ground Original, alongside its Beyond Immerse protein drinks available in Peach Mango, Orange Tangerine and Lemon Lime flavours.
The beverages are described as the first ready-to-drink protein products in their category to receive certification from Clean Label Project following independent testing protocols.
Clean Label Project conducts assessments focused on environmental contaminants and substances considered harmful, measuring products against internal benchmarks that may exceed minimum regulatory thresholds.
The evaluation process includes screening for heavy metals, pesticides, plasticisers, and other toxins, with only products meeting defined safety and transparency standards receiving certification.
According to the nonprofit, the program is designed to highlight companies that actively test and verify the composition of consumer goods rather than relying solely on regulatory compliance.
Ethan Brown, founder and chief executive of Beyond Meat, stated that third-party verification plays a role in how the company approaches ingredient sourcing and product development.
Clean Label Project Executive Director Molly Hamilton said the certification across multiple products reflects ongoing testing and monitoring efforts tied to product quality and disclosure.
Founded in 2009, Beyond Meat produces plant-based alternatives intended to replicate the taste and texture of animal protein, with its products formulated without genetically modified organisms, added hormones or antibiotics, and containing 0 mg cholesterol per serving.
The company positions its product line within broader discussions around diet, resource use and environmental impact, while continuing to expand its range of certified offerings through external testing frameworks.
