Expansion plans for the site include doubling production and creating 850 jobs
CHINA – BRF has completed the acquisition of a processed foods plant located in China’s Henan Province, taking over the site from Henan Best Foods, a subsidiary of U.S.-based OSI Group.
The agreement was initially made public in November 2024, with BRF confirming the finalization of the deal on April 30, 2025, through an update on its investor relations website.
The purchase, which amounts to US$43 million gives BRF greater access to the Chinese market and strengthens its ability to supply processed food products within the region.
Constructed in 2013, the facility houses two processing lines and has an annual production capacity of 28,000 tons.
However, BRF has previously stated plans to expand the plant by adding two more lines, which would raise the total capacity to 60,000 tons per year.
According to the company, this expansion would require an additional US$36 million investment.
Once the project is completed, the upgraded facility is expected to generate around 850 new jobs, contributing to the company’s broader operational footprint in Asia.
Still, the transaction remains subject to regulatory clearance and internal restructuring of the associated assets, as disclosed by BRF.
