German distributor has long supplied Alliance Group lamb, mutton and venison

GERMANY – Dawn Meats has acquired German meat importer and distributor Alexander Eyckeler for an undisclosed amount as part of its broader restructuring linked to its partnership with New Zealand’s Alliance Group.
The Irish meat processor said the transaction forms part of an ongoing integration process following its agreement last year to purchase a 65% stake in Alliance Group for NZ$270m (US$154.4m).
Chief executive Niall Browne said the acquisition is intended to improve customer access in Germany, strengthen proximity to key clients, and streamline coordination across supply chains and logistics operations.
Alexander Eyckeler, based in Erkrath near Düsseldorf, has spent more than 25 years importing and distributing chilled and frozen meat products from international suppliers across the German market.
The company has also served as a long-term distributor of Alliance Group’s Ashley-branded lamb, mutton and venison, helping the New Zealand exporter establish a strong position in Germany.
Dawn Meats said the German firm has developed a strong market presence over time through its established distribution network and customer relationships.
Alexander Eyckeler’s existing management team, including joint managing directors Markus Wagner and Andreas Gitschel, will remain in place alongside Dawn Meats Germany sales director Egbert Klokkers.
The company said it expects operational and commercial efficiencies to emerge as integration between the businesses progresses.
Wagner said the acquisition opens a new phase in the company’s relationship with Alliance Group and Dawn Meats, while assuring that established customer and supplier ties will remain central to operations.
Dawn Meats, which operates across Ireland, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, continues to expand its international footprint through acquisitions and partnerships in key European markets.
