Foster Farms recall over 3.8 million pounds of chicken corn dogs over possible contamination

FSIS says products may contain pieces of wood in the batter

USA – Foster Farms is recalling roughly 3,843,040 pounds of chicken corn dog products after reports indicated that some items may contain fragments of wood embedded in the batter, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The recall applies to products manufactured between July 30, 2024, and August 4, 2025, at the company’s Livingston, California facility.

Each recalled package carries the establishment number “P-6137B,” which can be found either inside the USDA mark of inspection or printed directly on the label.

FSIS confirmed that the affected corn dogs were shipped to retailers and institutional buyers across the United States, including Department of Defense facilities and USDA Commodity Foods donations.

Although some of the recalled items reached schools, authorities clarified that they were obtained through commercial distribution channels rather than through the USDA’s National School Lunch Program.

Consumers can find the full list of affected products on the FSIS website, which details specific package sizes and production dates.

The contamination issue came to light after a consumer reported being injured while eating one of the corn dogs, prompting an investigation by FSIS.

Following that report, Foster Farms received several additional complaints from consumers, five of which involved injuries linked to the same issue.

FSIS has urged anyone who believes they may have been harmed after eating these products to seek medical attention immediately.

The agency also warned that some of the recalled items could still be stored in home freezers, school cafeterias, or institutional kitchens across the country.

Consumers and food service providers are advised not to eat or serve the recalled products and instead dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

FSIS stated that it routinely performs recall verification checks to ensure that companies remove affected products from circulation and properly inform distributors and customers of the issue.

This incident comes shortly after a similar recall by Tyson Foods’ Hillshire Brands unit, which pulled select State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick and Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick from the market after detecting pieces of wood in those products as well.
