The newly opened 75,000 m² warehouse in northern France underlines Maersk’s commitment to improving supply chain efficiency for European customers.

FRANCE – Maersk has launched its first warehouse in France, a 75,000 square metre facility in Denain, located in the logistics-driven region of Hauts-de-France.
The move reflects the company’s ongoing strategy to grow its logistics capabilities across Europe, bringing its number of facilities in the region to over 40.
The warehouse is part of GLP Park Denain and strengthens Maersk’s network of more than 500 storage and distribution centres globally.
Speaking at the launch event, Aymeric Chandavoine, Executive Vice President and President Europe at Maersk, stated, “This milestone – the opening of this facility in the presence of so many of our important partners – is not just a symbol, but also a commitment to this market, to French customers and to the community.”
Hauts-de-France has become a key transport region in Europe. Since the 1990s, the area has developed its infrastructure, building up roads, rail links, and air connections.
Today, it sits within reach of major cities including Paris, Brussels, and London, making it ideal for fast and wide-reaching deliveries.
Maersk’s new warehouse is equipped to handle large-scale operations, with features such as 85 doors, an 11.4-metre beam height, and a 35-metre truck yard.
It also includes an automated docking system and separate lanes for heavy trucks and smaller vehicles. The building has earned a “Very Good” rating under the BREEAM environmental standard.
Maersk’s growth in West Africa
The launch in France follows another significant move by Maersk just a week earlier. The company opened a new facility in Dakar, Senegal, which adds 5,100 square metres of indoor storage and 500 square metres of outdoor space.
The warehouse holds over 7,000 pallet positions and serves industries including consumer goods, retail, and tech.
“The investment in Dakar demonstrates our long-term commitment to Senegal and the broader West African region,” said Thomas Theeuwes, Managing Director, Maersk West Africa.
“By establishing this modern warehouse facility, we’re delivering on our promise to create seamless, integrated logistics solutions that enable our customers to optimise their supply chains and accelerate growth.”
With both developments, Maersk is steadily strengthening its logistics network to better meet customer needs in Europe and West Africa.
As more businesses rely on stable and efficient distribution services, the company’s latest steps reflect a clear effort to be closer to the markets it serves.
