Alfonso Gonzalez Loeschen takes the helm at Nespresso as Nestlé targets stronger growth in its global coffee operations.

SWITZERLAND – Nestlé has named Alfonso Gonzalez Loeschen as the new Chief Executive Officer of its Nespresso business, effective November 1.
He succeeds Philipp Navratil, who was recently appointed CEO of Nestlé following a leadership reshuffle at the Switzerland-based food and beverage giant.
Loeschen steps into the role after leading Nespresso’s North America business since 2020, where he oversaw operations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
During his tenure, he guided the expansion of the Nespresso Vertuo system and achieved strong growth in the region. He will also join Nestlé’s group executive board.
Having started his career at Nestlé in 1992 as an assistant manager, Loeschen has held several senior positions, including Vice President of Nestlé’s U.S. beverage division and Chief Marketing Officer of Nespresso. His appointment reflects decades of experience within the company’s beverage operations.
Philipp Navratil said in a statement that Loeschen brings “extensive expertise and a deep understanding of the portioned coffee category,” as well as a results-oriented leadership style suited to driving performance and execution globally.
The leadership transition follows recent changes at Nestlé, including the dismissal of CEO Laurent Freixe earlier this month over policy violations. Navratil, then head of Nespresso, was promoted to Nestlé CEO shortly afterward.
Nespresso remains one of Nestlé’s most important divisions. The coffee brand reported nearly US$4 billion in sales during the first half of 2025, up 5.8% from the same period last year, driven by double-digit growth in North America.
Earlier this week, Nespresso announced plans to launch the world’s first Rainforest Alliance (RA) Regenerative certified coffee to the market.
The company confirmed that the certification seal will appear on select Nespresso products starting in 2026. The initial certified lots will come from a coffee farm in Costa Rica, with additional lots expected from Costa Rica and Mexico.
The certification framework aims to strengthen soil health, enhance biodiversity, and improve climate resilience, while also aligning with emerging corporate sustainability regulations and environmental labeling standards.
Under the RA Regenerative program, existing certificate holders can integrate 17 regenerative requirements into their current Sustainable Agriculture Standard certification or pursue regenerative certification as a standalone pathway, combining these requirements with 102 other baseline criteria.
