Poland’s meat producer Animex merges subsidiaries under new identity

Animex is restructuring operations after offloading goose business to Cedrob

POLAND – Polish meat company Animex is consolidating its operations following the sale of its goose business to Cedrob S.A., and is now merging two of its subsidiaries under one name.

The company has announced that it will now operate as Animex Foods, combining its previously separate units — Animex Foods and Agri Plus — into a single entity.

The decision comes shortly after the divestment of its goose-focused operations, signaling a shift in strategy to streamline its core business segments.

According to Animex Foods president Jacek Dzielak, the new structure is expected to simplify internal processes and improve how the company manages its operations.

By uniting poultry and pig production, feed manufacturing, slaughtering, and meat processing under one system, the firm intends to create a fully integrated supply chain.

The reorganization will also allow the company to align its decision-making structures and management systems, reducing internal complexity.

As part of the consolidation, Animex Foods will continue to use its well-established product brands, including Berlinki, Krakus, Morliny, and Agri Plus.

The firm has stated that the move is designed to improve both operational and financial efficiency, as well as to support future investment targeting growth in Poland and abroad.

Goose business sold to Cedrob

In May, Animex Holding announced that it had reached an agreement to sell its goose operations to Cedrob S.A., Poland’s top poultry company.

The sale includes the Cracow Division, which consists of a feather plant, two hatcheries, and slaughtering equipment dedicated to geese.

Employees and existing business partners involved in the division will be transferred to Cedrob as part of the deal.

Dzielak explained that the decision to exit the goose segment was made in order to focus resources on areas with better growth prospects and more efficient operations.

Company background

According to 2023 data from WATTPoultry.com, Animex handles about 150 million bird slaughters per year, making it one of Europe’s major poultry producers.

The company was founded in 1951 and began with the Krakus ham brand, later expanding into sausages and ready meals through the Morliny and Berlinki brands.

In 2000, Animex launched Agri Plus to develop its pig farming operations, and later expanded into broiler production and feed manufacturing.

Over the past decade, the company added three facilities in Kutno and opened a poultry plant in Daszyna, all located in central Poland’s Lodz province.
