Funds expected to support sustainable aquaculture and operational expansion.

NORWAY – Norwegian seafood company SalMar has raised kr2.75 billion (US$271.8 million) through a new issuance of senior unsecured green bonds, reinforcing its capital position in the global aquaculture sector.
The transaction was structured in two tranches: NOK 1.75 billion with a three-year tenor and a floating-rate coupon, and a second tranche that completed the total issuance.
Settlement for the bonds took place in mid-June 2026, with listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange expected shortly thereafter, according to market arrangements coordinated by Arctic Securities and other financial institutions.
Proceeds from the issuance are expected to be directed toward sustainability-linked projects, including improvements in fish welfare, reductions in emissions, and the adoption of more efficient aquaculture technologies.
The financing comes as SalMar continues to invest in vertically integrated salmon production, covering everything from broodstock and smolt to harvesting, processing, and global distribution.
Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Frøya, Norway, the company operates across several Norwegian production regions and maintains international activities in markets including Scotland and Iceland.
SalMar is the world’s second-largest producer of farmed Atlantic salmon and exports to more than 50 countries, operating in a sector increasingly shaped by environmental standards and investor demand for ESG-compliant financing.
The company said the green bond structure supports long-term growth while aligning with expectations for reduced environmental impact in global seafood production.
In a competitive market that includes major players such as Mowi, the issuance is viewed as a step to strengthen financial flexibility while funding continued expansion and resilience against biological and climate-related production risks.
