Store offers extensive product range, including SPAR Own Brand items

ZIMBABWE – SPAR Zimbabwe has opened a supermarket in Mazowe, a key agricultural town located about 40km north of Harare.
The new SPAR Mazowe store is positioned along the main road linking Harare to northern Zimbabwe and the Zambian border, an area frequented by commuters, truck drivers, and travellers.
Mazowe is known for its fertile valley, Mazowe Hills, and Mazowe Dam, with soil types that support both commercial and subsistence farming.
This supermarket marks the first modern grocery store in the district, introducing a retail format aligned with SPAR International’s updated branding, as seen at the recently opened SPAR Cardinals outlet.
The store operates in line with SPAR Zimbabwe’s principles of providing fresh, locally sourced, and quality products to its customers.
The main supermarket has a retail area of 970 m², complemented by an additional 130 m² in an adjoining Tops liquor store, designed to serve both residents and workers in agriculture and mining.
SPAR Mazowe stocks 4,360 items, including nearly 600 SPAR Own Brand products, aiming to provide a broad assortment for everyday shopping needs.
The store’s departments include fruit and vegetables, a delicatessen offering hot and cold meals, a butchery, a bakery, and a quick-service section called Fire & Grill.
The supermarket held a soft launch on February 24, followed by a formal opening ceremony on March 6, 2026.
SPAR Zimbabwe has operated in the country since 1967, when two local organisations obtained licenses from SPAR International, and the current independent retailer took over the license in 2015.
The brand continues to participate in local community activities while maintaining its grocery operations across Zimbabwe.
This new store adds a modern shopping option to Mazowe, providing a consistent supply of groceries to a mixed customer base that includes commuters, residents, and a substantial labour force.
