Sullivans Cove appoints Andy Gaunt as CEO  

AUSTRALIA – Sullivans Cove has appointed Andy Gaunt as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition for Australia’s most awarded whisky brand.  

The appointment comes as the Tasmanian distillery concludes a US$14 million upgrade of its Hobart facility and celebrates its 30th anniversary. 

Gaunt previously served as Managing Director for Fever-Tree in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. He was also a founding member of Diageo’s global luxury division and later joined the Asia Pacific team for Johnnie Walker’s luxury portfolio and Diageo’s Single Malt range. 

Sullivans Cove Managing Director Adam Sable described Gaunt as ideally positioned to lead the brand through its next phase of development. “In addition to Andy’s skill set and experience, he embodies the Sullivans Cove ethos and shared values,” said Sable. 

Gaunt expressed enthusiasm about joining the Sullivans Cove team. “I am honoured to have the opportunity to join the incredible team and business that is Sullivans Cove, a whisky brand I have long admired,” he said.  

“Sullivans Cove is Australia’s most decorated whisky brand and arguably the brand that brought the quality of Australian distilling to the world’s attention.” 

The distillery’s recently completed expansion doubles its production capacity while preserving the brand’s commitment to small-batch, handcrafted quality. 

In 2024, Sullivans Cove earned nine medals at the World Whisky Awards, including for its Old & Rare American Oak Second Fill 18 Years Old.  

It also received top honours at the Icons of Whisky Awards, winning in categories such as Visitor Attraction Team, Marketing Team, Campaign Innovator, and Sales Team of the Year.
