Global indoor farming experts gather online for CEA & Indoor Farming 4.0 conference

The virtual event is bringing together over 800 participants across the agriculture and tech industries to discuss better ways to grow food indoors.

GLOBAL – The Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) & Indoor Farming 4.0 online conference is now underway, with its digital platform already open ahead of two main live sessions scheduled for 9 May and 23 May.

The event has drawn over 800 participants from more than 300 farms, technology providers, research institutions, and government agencies around the world.

Its online platform went live on 2 May and gives registered users 21 days of access to conference content, networking tools, and company information.

This year’s conference is structured around two key tracks. Stage 1, titled “Solutions to Enhance Operations and Performance,” covers topics such as automation, labor use, water and energy efficiency, and cutting waste.

Stage 2, called “Solutions to Optimize Plant Growth,” focuses on how environmental controls like lighting, irrigation, humidity, and nutrients affect crop quality.

Jonathan Martin, Director at Tech 4.0, said the format helps participants find what’s most useful to their businesses. “The ability to assess a farm’s operations, performance, and efficiency are key factors in making it productive and viable,” he said.

“Continued advancements in technology, practices, and processes are supporting variables such as energy, automation, labour, materials, water, waste management, and other inputs, all of which are crucial for optimising production yields.”

Global support from industry and research

Confirmed event partners include top names in lighting, automation, and infrastructure. Philips Horticulture LED Solutions, Heliospectra, Sollum Technologies, and Valoya are taking part on the lighting side, while companies such as Intelligent Growth Solutions (IGS), Metomotion, and Siemens are sharing their work in automation and robotics.

Academic and research institutions like Wageningen University, Fraunhofer UMSICHT, and the Advanced Plant Growth Centre are also participating.

Attendees include large growers such as AeroFarms and Driscoll’s, government agencies like the USDA and Singapore Food Agency, and startups working on substrates and climate control systems.

Participants have full access to all live presentations and can revisit sessions through the event’s on-demand library. They can also interact using chat, video calls, and multimedia profiles. One-on-one video meetings are available to help people connect directly with others in the field.

With only a limited number of free tickets left, organizers are urging interested individuals to complete their registration before the final sessions begin.
