HCCB to invest US$117.5M in new Andhra Pradesh beverage plants

The investment will add manufacturing capacity in Vizianagaram and Chittoor, with new bottling lines supplying Coca-Cola beverages across several southern Indian markets.

INDIA – Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) will invest Rs 1,127 crore (US$117.5M) in Andhra Pradesh to establish a new beverage manufacturing unit in Vizianagaram and expand its existing facility in Chittoor, expanding production capacity across southern India.

The investment plan was approved by Andhra Pradesh’s State Investment Promotion Committee, according to sources cited by The Economic Times. HCCB will invest ₹842 crore in the Vizianagaram facility and Rs 285 crore (US$29.72M) to expand its Srikalahasti unit in Chittoor.

The two facilities are expected to support beverage demand across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and adjoining markets.

The Vizianagaram plant will initially have three bottling lines with a combined capacity of 18 million cases annually.

The facility will include carbonated soft drink lines for large and small pack sizes, a juice line and a tetra-pack line. A second phase is planned to add two more bottling lines with capacity of 12 million cases annually.

At the Chittoor facility, HCCB will add one packaged drinking water bottling line and two carbonated soft drink bottling lines. The expanded plant will manufacture six brands: Coca-Cola, Thums Up, Sprite, Fanta, Limca and Kinley water.

A senior Andhra Pradesh government official told The Economic Times: “The expansion plan of Coca-Cola had been postponed due to leadership change within the company. Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd, in fact, is now expanding and also investing in a new project in the state.”

The investment follows HCCB’s commissioning of a high-speed Kinley Water Production Line at its Avinya facility in Telangana. The line can produce 500 ml Kinley PET bottles at up to 1,350 bottles per minute and 1-litre bottles at 1,000 bottles per minute.

Meanwhile, The Coca-Cola Company is exploring a potential public listing in India of Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings, the parent of HCCB, in 2027, subject to market conditions and regulatory approvals.

The company said preparations are underway for a potential listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange of India.

Coca-Cola has identified India as an important growth market. The company reported sales of Rs 50 billion in 2024-25, its highest level since at least 2021.

The projects will expand HCCB’s manufacturing network and add beverage capacity for southern Indian markets.
