Cargill launches Craftiva reduced-sugar syrups

The new Craftiva range offers flavoured syrups and sweetener packets with less sugar, while a separate partnership will trial AI-powered hull cleaning on Cargill vessels.

USA – Cargill has launched Craftiva, a reduced-sugar brand of flavoured syrups and sweetener packets, targeting consumers seeking to cut sugar intake without giving up taste.

The portfolio is positioned between full-sugar and zero-sugar products, with options for drinks including lattes, cold brews and mocktails. It comprises four syrup varieties: vanilla, caramel, brown sugar and cinnamon, and toasted marshmallow.

Each serving contains 7g of sugar, compared with about 20g in leading full-sugar national-brand syrups, according to Cargill. The syrups are made with cane sugar, stevia sweetener and sea salt, and come in 375ml and 750ml bottles.

The range also includes sweetener packets made with cane sugar and stevia. Each packet contains five calories and provides sweetness comparable to two teaspoons of sugar. Multiple pack sizes are available for home use, on-the-go consumption and foodservice.

“We believe reduced sugar is becoming an addressable market of its own,” said Asheesh Choudhary, senior vice president and managing director of consumer brands at Cargill.

Cargill cited the International Food Information Council’s 2025 Food & Health Survey, in which 61% of Americans said they were trying to limit sugars, while 14% were trying to avoid them entirely. Its 2026 Future of Sweeteners research found Gen Z and millennial consumers preferred reduced sugar to zero sugar by 25% to 17%.

“Consumers increasingly want to reduce sugar, but they don’t want to give up the drinks and flavours they love,” said Brian Tockman, senior director of consumer brands at Cargill.

“The Craftiva line-up was created specifically for that customer. Our goal is simple: deliver premium, great-tasting sweetness and flavor with meaningfully less sugar.”

Craftiva is expected to launch on TikTok Shop and through US retail stores and foodservice distributors in the coming weeks.

Separately, Cargill has partnered with Neptune Robotics on an 18-month trial of AI-powered robotic hull cleaning and inspection on Cargill vessels calling at the Port of Singapore. The 18-month programme will focus on vessels calling at Singapore, combining robotic cleaning with hull inspections and performance measurement during normal operations.

The trial will assess Neptune’s remotely operated cleaning robots, hull inspection technology and Vision-Language-Action models in live operating conditions. Cargill will provide vessels, operational feedback and before-and-after performance data to measure cleaning efficiency and fuel savings.
