Lipton Teas & Infusions inaugurates new production line in Egypt
The new production line strengthens Egypt’s role in Lipton’s regional supply chain and supports growing exports to international markets, including Australia.
EGYPT – Lipton Teas & Infusions has officially inaugurated a new production line at its manufacturing facility in New Borg El Arab City, Egypt, reinforcing its commitment to expanding production capacity, innovation, and export operations in one of its key regional markets.
The inauguration was attended by Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who toured the facility and reviewed the newly installed production line alongside existing manufacturing operations.
During the visit, he inspected the factory’s automated production and packaging processes, as well as its quality control, research, and development systems, which operate in accordance with international standards.
Speaking during the event, Mennat Allah Sharkas, General Manager of Lipton Teas & Infusions Egypt, said the visit reflects the Egyptian government’s support for local industry and its efforts to strengthen the country’s investment environment, particularly within the beverage sector.

She noted that Lipton continues to invest in innovation, research, and development to expand its product portfolio and respond to changing consumer preferences.
Sharkas added that the company has operated in Egypt since 1934, while its New Borg El Arab factory was established in 1992 and has since earned multiple international certifications.
According to Sharkas, Egypt remains one of Lipton’s most important strategic markets in the region due to its growth potential and the continued development of the beverage industry.
The facility currently has an annual production capacity of 25,000 tonnes and specializes in packaging loose-leaf tea and tea bags under brands including Lipton Yellow Label and Brook Bond.
The factory employs 273 engineers and specialized personnel and is supported by an extensive distribution network serving consumers across Egypt.
Sharkas revealed that the company plans to export approximately 25% of its local production to regional and international markets, further strengthening Egypt’s position within Lipton’s global supply chain. She also announced that the factory’s first export shipment to Australia is scheduled to depart this week.
The facility already exports products to several countries, including Libya, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Sudan, and Yemen.
Factory Manager Hassan Youssef said the plant currently operates at a 95% capacity utilization rate and leverages advanced digitalization and automation technologies to improve efficiency and productivity.
He added that the Borg El Arab facility aims to further strengthen its position as a major production and supply hub through continued operational expansion.
