African Originals introduces Ember – Pine Poa, a tropical-flavoured spirit featuring coconut and pineapple notes

KENYA – African Originals has expanded its spirits portfolio with the launch of Ember – Pine Poa, a new tropical-inspired spirit designed to deliver a smooth and flavour-forward drinking experience.

The company said the new product features subtle notes of coconut and pineapple on the nose, offering a light tropical profile that is both refreshing and approachable for consumers.

According to African Originals, Ember – Pine Poa reflects evolving consumer preferences toward flavour-led yet convenient drinking options.

“Ember – Pine Poa reflects the changing consumer preferences toward flavour-forward yet convenient drinking experiences,” the company said in a statement.

The spirit contains 35% alcohol by volume (ABV) and is available in 750ml and 250ml bottles through the company’s website and selected retailers across Kenya.

The launch adds to the company’s growing gin and spirits portfolio, which includes 58 Gin, KO Gin and Mara Gin.

Highlighting the drink’s smooth profile, the company stated: “Ni kitu smooth, no need for chaser, can be enjoyed exactly as it is.”

African Originals has continued to expand its product offerings in recent years to meet changing consumer tastes.

Last year, the company broadened its KO Gin portfolio with the introduction of three new flavours: KO Mukhombero gin cocktail, Lemon Cello and Mocha Toffy. The company said the new variants were introduced in response to rising demand for lower-alcohol beverages in the Kenyan market.

The launch of Ember – Pine Poa also follows a recent investment aimed at expanding production capacity.

In November 2025, African Originals secured KES129.6 million (US$1 million) in funding from Phoenix Beverages Ltd to support the expansion of its local manufacturing operations.

The investment marked the second capital injection from Phoenix Beverages after the Mauritian beverage company first invested in the business in 2023 when it acquired a minority stake.
