Nestlé plans to transfer production to a UK co-manufacturer while seeking a new investor to continue confectionery manufacturing at the Hungarian site.
The increased allocation is expected to support food manufacturers with improved sugar supplies under a reduced 10% import duty for the next 12 months.
The investment will establish a large-scale sugar estate, manufacturing plant and cogeneration facility to strengthen Tanzania’s sugar production and regional supply.
The planned refinery is expected to boost local sugar production, create jobs and strengthen Cameroon’s agro-industrial supply chain by 2028.
