Coca-Cola HBC to invest US$1.28B in Egypt by 2030

New investments and expanded production capacity are set to strengthen Egypt’s role as a regional manufacturing and export hub for Coca-Cola HBC.

EGYPT – Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC) has announced plans to invest US$1.28 billion in Egypt between 2026 and 2030 as it seeks to expand production capacity and reinforce its presence in one of Africa’s largest consumer markets.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of a new PET plastic bottle production line at the company’s Alexandria facility on June 7. The line has a production capacity of more than 65,000 bottles per hour and an annual output capacity of 33 million cartons.

Samer ElHamalawy, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Coca-Cola Hellenic Egypt, said the investment marks an important milestone for the company’s manufacturing operations in the country.

“The new production line represents a strategic step toward strengthening the concept of local manufacturing with global value,” ElHamalawy said.

He added that the investment reinforces Egypt’s position as a regional manufacturing and export hub within Coca-Cola HBC’s global network.

“Coca-Cola Hellenic Egypt exports its products to markets across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe,” he said.

ElHamalawy noted that the company’s Amreya factory in Alexandria covers 98,000 square metres and houses five production lines producing nine of the company’s major brands. The facility also provides more than 210 job opportunities.

Coca-Cola HBC has operated in Egypt since 1994 and currently manages five bottling plants located in Alexandria, Tanta, Sadat City, Qalyub and Assiut. Through these facilities, the company manufactures and distributes brands including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta and Schweppes.

According to the company’s Egyptian subsidiary, its operations generated nearly US$1 billion in economic value for the country in 2024. The business directly employs around 4,900 people and supports approximately 64,000 additional jobs through its supply chain and distribution activities.

The Egypt investment forms part of a wider expansion strategy across Africa. The Coca-Cola Company has also announced a US$1.06 billion investment programme in South Africa for 2026-2030, while a similar five-year investment plan worth US$1 billion has been unveiled for Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Coca-Cola HBC has been pursuing the acquisition of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) since 2025. The transaction, expected to be completed in the second half of 2026, would further strengthen the company’s presence across the African beverage market.
