New snack product aims at convenience and high protein; company reports stronger quarterly results driven by pork operations

CANADA – Maple Leaf Foods Inc., based in Mississauga, Ontario, has launched a new line of chicken protein sticks under the brand name Mighty Protein.
The product is designed as a portable protein option, containing 12 grams of protein per stick, with no sugar, fillers, or artificial ingredients.
Mighty Protein sticks are made from lean chicken, are gluten-free, and suitable for a keto diet, reflecting the company’s focus on health-conscious consumers.
The new snacks are available in three flavors: Original, Buffalo, and BBQ, and can be purchased individually at 32 grams per stick or in packs of eight at retail stores across Canada.
Earlier in November, Maple Leaf Foods reported an increase in third-quarter revenue and earnings, driven in part by higher pork prices, more efficient operations, and stable demand across its core business segments.
The company’s pork division contributed significantly to the growth, with heavier average hog weights and strong market pricing supporting a rise in profitability.
Analysts view the results as an indication that the Canadian pork sector is stabilizing after several years of unpredictable trade conditions, disease outbreaks, and fluctuating input costs.
While Maple Leaf continues to expand its branded and value-added products, pork remains a central part of its revenue and overall operations.
The company attributed gains in pork sales to effective management of animal health, nutrition, and genetics, which improve on-farm efficiency and financial outcomes.
Maple Leaf Foods is in the final stages of separating its pork operations into a standalone entity, a move expected to change interactions between processors and producers.
Producers who implement strong biosecurity practices, use data to guide performance, and maintain operational efficiency may have opportunities to participate in premium supply programs for export markets.
Current company reports indicate that increasing hog weights are driving higher farm-gate revenue, while overall pork market conditions are approaching a balance between supply and demand.
