Rhenus completes LBH Group acquisition, expands global port network

With full ownership, LBH will remain a key part of Rhenus’ maritime strategy.

GLOBAL – Rhenus Group has completed the acquisition of the remaining 49% stake in LBH Group, making it a wholly owned subsidiary and strengthening its global maritime and port logistics network.

The acquisition, finalized on 29 April 2026, involved the purchase of shares from the Lagendijk family, marking the completion of a strategic process that began when the two companies partnered in 2023.

LBH Group: A Global Maritime Shipping Agency

LBH Group is an international maritime shipping agency with business sites in 24 countries. The company manages incoming and outgoing vessels, handling bulk goods, liquid cargo, containers, and general cargo.

For logistics operators and supply chain managers, LBH’s extensive port agency network provides critical vessel coordination and cargo-handling services across diverse markets.

Combining Port Agency with Inland Logistics

The partnership between Rhenus and LBH was originally intended to combine LBH’s global reach in port agency services with Rhenus’ international logistics network. Since then, the collaboration has strengthened both companies’ capabilities, broadened service offerings, and supported customers with more customized, resilient, and efficient supply chain solutions.

With full ownership, LBH will remain a key part of Rhenus’ maritime strategy. The company will continue to operate under its existing brand, maintaining its established market presence and service quality.

Logistics Outlook

The acquisition brings together two specialized teams and supports Rhenus Group’s wider growth plans in global trade, as it aims to expand its network and strengthen supply chains worldwide.

For logistics operators handling bulk and containerized cargo, this integration creates a seamless link between port agency services and inland logistics networks.

In addition, LBH’s vessel coordination expertise across 24 countries now connects directly to Rhenus’s warehousing, distribution, and freight forwarding capabilities.

As a result, this unified structure reduces handover delays, improves cargo visibility, and enables more responsive supply chain management for time-sensitive shipments.

As global trade continues to face disruptions, integrated maritime-inland logistics platforms offer greater resilience and efficiency for businesses operating across multiple regions.

The LBH brand remains intact, ensuring continuity for existing customers and providing access to Rhenus’s broader service portfolio.
