Russia’s Rostov region ships 100 tonnes of poultry to four countries

Export quantities include Benin, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Hong Kong.

RUSSIA – The Rostov region of Russia has recently completed a successful shipment of 104 tonnes of poultry meat to four international destinations.

The export, which wrapped up on April 11, included shipments of 27 tonnes to Benin, 25 tonnes to Saudi Arabia, another 27 tonnes to the UAE, and 25 tonnes to Hong Kong (China).

The region’s capacity to meet the rising demand for poultry in these international markets was highlighted by the shipment.

According to the regional Rosselkhoznadzor department, the poultry was thoroughly tested and certified for safety, complying with the veterinary and sanitary standards required by the receiving countries.

The shipments were further validated by laboratory tests that ensured the poultry met the necessary health criteria for consumption in the import markets.

Additionally, data from the Federal State Information System (FGIS) Mercury confirmed that all exported products complied with legal regulations regarding the origin of the goods.

This traceability is vital to assure importing nations that the poultry has been sourced legally and transparently.

The export permit for the shipment was processed through Rosselkhoznadzor’s automated Argus system, which monitors and regulates agricultural exports.

This system plays a central role in ensuring the compliance of exported goods with international trade standards.

Looking ahead, the successful shipment is expected to encourage further exports from the Rostov region, as local producers continue to invest in agricultural technology and production methods to meet international demand.

Russia’s poultry outlook

Russia’s poultry production is experiencing a period of growth and challenges.

While poultry numbers increased to over 551 million heads in 2022, there have been some recent declines in poultry stock and output.

Production of poultry meat in agricultural organizations is projected to reach 6 million metric tons by 2028, up from 5.3 million in 2023, according to ReportLinker.

However, the sector has faced challenges like interruptions in hatching egg imports and restrictions on foreign vaccine access, impacting productivity.

Additionally, since June 2023, poultry stock on Russian farms has been declining, with a 3.2% decrease year-on-year as of November 2023, reaching 462.7 million units.
