William Grant & Sons appoints Kartik Mohindra as India Managing Director

WG&S names new India MD as it expands portfolio and leadership across key international markets including Canada and beyond.

INDIA – William Grant & Sons (WG&S), the globally renowned family-owned Scotch whisky distiller, has appointed Kartik Mohindra as the new Managing Director for India, effective 30 September 2025.

The appointment aligns with the company’s strategic focus on strengthening its leadership in high-growth markets and expanding its global footprint.

Mohindra takes over from Sachin Mehta, the outgoing Managing Director of WG&S India, who has been elevated to an international role as Managing Director, Canada.

During his nine-year tenure in India, Mehta was instrumental in expanding the company’s presence and positioning its premium spirits portfolio—particularly Glenfiddich and The Balvenie—within the Indian luxury liquor segment.

Mohindra brings over 26 years of experience in sales and marketing across the alcohol, beverage, and FMCG sectors. Prior to joining WG&S, he served as Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Global Business Development at Pernod Ricard India.

In that role, he was responsible for driving brand strategy, enhancing business performance, and leading global market expansion efforts. He also played a key role in brand-led innovation, covering diverse categories such as whiskies, wines, and other product extensions.

Commenting on the leadership changes, Doug Bagley, Chief Commercial Officer of WG&S, said the appointments reflect the company’s sustained commitment to investment in core markets and talent development.

“We are excited to welcome Kartik to our team in India—a strategically important market for us. Driven by his expertise, we’re confident that we will further build on the great progress Sachin and the team have made in India in recent years,” Bagley stated.

William Grant & Sons operates in India through its wholly owned subsidiary, William Grant & Sons (India).

The company’s portfolio includes globally recognized spirits such as Grant’s Blended Scotch, Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, Monkey Shoulder, Hendrick’s Gin, and Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey.

Earlier this month, WG&S completed the acquisition of The Famous Grouse and Naked Malt from The 1887 Company.

The Famous Grouse, Scotland’s best-selling whisky, is celebrated for its heritage and global appeal, while Naked Malt continues to attract a strong following within the blended malt category.

Søren Hagh, CEO of WG&S, expressed confidence in the acquisition’s future potential, stating that the new additions would complement the company’s growth ambitions and broaden its consumer reach worldwide.
