The proposed investment is expected to create additional opportunities for growers while supporting the development of the avocado sector.

TANZANIA – Frontier Energy has announced plans to invest in Tanzania’s avocado industry, focusing on value addition, modern farming technologies, and export market development during a high-level meeting in Dodoma.
The plans were discussed between Tanzania’s Minister for Agriculture, Daniel Chongolo, and a Frontier Energy delegation led by Chief Executive Officer Lars Tushuizen.
According to the company, the proposed investment will focus on strengthening production, expanding processing capabilities, and supporting the competitiveness of Tanzanian avocados in both domestic and export markets.
This initiative aims to transform the nation’s export potential by integrating advanced technical solutions into the existing supply chain.
Tushuizen said Frontier intends to develop the avocado value chain by applying modern technologies, including advanced irrigation systems, precision farming tools, and post-harvest handling equipment. He noted that Tanzania’s investment environment and production potential make the country an attractive destination for agricultural investment.
“This initiative will help increase farmers’ incomes while contributing to the country’s broader economic development,” he added.
Furthermore, the investment will expand processing capabilities, enabling local producers to move beyond raw fruit exports into value-added products such as avocado oil, frozen pulp, and ready-to-eat portions.
This value-addition strategy improves financial stability for regional farmers by capturing higher margins throughout the supply chain. Consequently, the project is expected to create additional employment opportunities in rural areas and stimulate broader economic growth.
Additionally, Minister Chongolo welcomed the proposed investment and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting agricultural investors. He said the Ministry of Agriculture will continue to implement measures to attract investment, improve productivity, and enhance the competitiveness of Tanzanian agricultural products in international markets.
Tanzania’s attractive investment climate, including favourable land availability, suitable growing conditions, and government incentives, positions the country as a prime destination for global agricultural investors.
The proposed investment is expected to create additional opportunities for growers while supporting the development of the avocado sector.
Therefore, by expanding processing capabilities and introducing modern farming technologies, the partnership aims to strengthen Tanzania’s position in global avocado markets.
Ultimately, long-term success will depend on continued infrastructure improvements and sustained government support for agricultural transformation.
