ABD introduces a premium brandy with unique packaging to strengthen its non-whisky portfolio in a fast-growing market.
INDIA – Indian spirits producer Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD) has entered the country’s brandy market with the launch of Golden Mist French Brandy in Karnataka.
The move marks the company’s latest step in expanding its premium offerings beyond its core whisky portfolio.
Golden Mist is crafted using a blend of French and Indian expertise and is aged in French oak casks to create a smooth texture and rich flavor.
The brandy features a deep amber hue and a tasting profile that combines grape notes with liquorice, honey, and subtle spice.
The launch comes at a time when the prestige brandy segment in Karnataka is experiencing rapid growth, expanding at 13.1%, outpacing the overall brandy category, which is growing at high single digits.
This market momentum aligns with increasing consumer demand for authentic and high-quality offerings in the mid-premium segment.
According to ABD Managing Director Alok Gupta, Golden Mist reflects the evolving preferences of Indian consumers who value heritage, authenticity, and premium taste at a competitive price.
A distinctive feature of Golden Mist is its packaging innovation. The brand has introduced a 180 ml Hippy pack, designed in a gold color and inspired by southern cultural preferences.
It is the only product in its segment to offer this option alongside traditional glass bottles, enhancing shelf appeal and consumer convenience.
Golden Mist is available in Karnataka in four sizes: 750 ml at Rs 970 (US$11.39), 375 ml at Rs 485 (US$5.69), 180 ml at Rs 235 (US$2.76) (in both glass and Hippy packs), and 90 ml at Rs 120 (US$1.41).
The brandy launch follows ABD’s recent regulatory approval to increase grain-based spirit production by 15 lakh bulk litres at its Rangapur facility in Telangana, bringing total licensed capacity to 615 lakh bulk litres for FY2024–25.
