Bio-Rad launches internationally validated EZ-Check kit for rapid Salmonella detection

U.S.A. – Bio-Rad Laboratories, a leading global provider of life science research and clinical diagnostics products, has introduced the EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit, a rapid, qualitative real-time PCR test designed to detect Salmonella spp. in a wide range of food and environmental samples.

The kit has been validated by AOAC International under its Performance Tested Method program and received NF VALIDATION certification from AFNOR Certification, demonstrating international recognition of its performance, reliability, and compliance with stringent global food safety standards.

The EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit streamlines testing workflows by combining multiplex amplification of the target pathogen with an internal control that reduces the risk of false negatives. 

A duplex detection system further improves accuracy while simplifying reaction setup. 

These advanced features enable laboratories and food producers to achieve faster turnaround times without compromising analytical precision or data quality.

Validation parameters included robustness, consistency, stability, inclusivity and exclusivity testing, as well as comprehensive matrix studies. 

Bio-Rad’s iQ-Check Free DNA Removal Solution was also validated as part of the workflow, ensuring reliable results across all matrices within the validation scope.

Detection of Salmonella remains a critical priority for global food manufacturers, as contamination can lead to serious health risks and costly product recalls. 

The EZ-Check Salmonella spp. Kit allows producers to strengthen quality control, minimize outbreak risks, and meet evolving regulatory requirements more effectively.

The company has expanded its SEQuoia RNA-Seq portfolio with the SEQuoia RiboDepletion Kit, which boosts assay sensitivity by removing nonessential ribosomal RNA fragments, preserves rare transcripts, cuts preparation time to under two hours, and works with a wide input range compatible with most library prep kits.

RNA sequencing is increasingly used in food research to track pathogens, spoilage organisms, and beneficial microbes. By improving detection of subtle microbial activity and streamlining workflows, the kit helps food safety labs, ingredient developers, and researchers trace contamination sources, monitor pathogen behavior, and generate high-quality data more efficiently.
