Brazilian beef exports register sharp growth

BRAZIL – Brazil’s beef exports recorded strong performance in June 2025, reaching 271,200 metric tons in volume, an increase of 23.3% compared to the same month last year.

The rise in volume was matched by a significant increase in revenue, totaling US$1.43 billion , which is 50% higher than in June 2024.

Fresh beef made up the majority of exports, accounting for 91.9% of the value and 241,000 tons in volume, bringing in US$1.31 billion.

Processed beef followed with a 4.7% share worth US$67.8 million, while offal, tripe, fat, and salted meat made up the remaining proportion.

China continued to be the largest buyer, importing 136,000 tons and contributing US$743.5 million to Brazil’s June revenue, representing a 47.9% rise in volume and an 84.4% increase in value year-on-year.

The United States ranked second for the month, purchasing 18,200 tons for US$123.6 million.

Mexico followed closely with 16,400 tons and US$89.8 million, a 341.2% rise from its imports in June 2024.

Other markets showing growth included the European Union, which bought 8,700 tons for US$73.5 million, and Chile, which imported 9,300 tons valued at US$52.1 million.

First half of 2025 shows steady expansion

From January to June 2025, Brazil exported a total of 1.47 million tons of beef, reflecting a 13.4% increase from the same period last year.

Revenue over the six months reached US$7.23 billion , up 27.1% from the US$5.68 billion recorded in the first half of 2024.

Average monthly exports during this period stood at around 245,000 tons, with June posting the highest monthly revenue of the year.

China was the top destination in the first half, importing 641,100 tons valued at US$3.22 billion, marking a 28.2% increase in revenue from the previous year.

The US came next with 181,500 tons and US$1.04 billion, showing the largest growth among major buyers with a 102% rise in value.

Chile’s imports stood at 58,900 tons with US$315.5 million in revenue, while Mexico recorded 52,000 tons and US$276.3 million, a 235.7% increase from last year.

According to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex/MDIC) and compiled by ABIEC, June marked the strongest month for beef exports in 2025 so far, surpassing both May and April.
