Brenntag expands Avebe partnership to US market for specialty potato, protein ingredients

U.S.A – Brenntag, a global chemicals and ingredients distributor, has expanded its partnership with Royal Avebe to distribute specialty starches, proteins, and fiber in the U.S., strengthening its presence in the North American market.

Brenntag originally began its collaboration with Avebe in 2023, covering Turkey, and has since expanded into Benelux, Poland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and several Nordic (Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden) and Baltic (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) countries.

Avebe is a Dutch farmer cooperative with an industry-leading business providing highly specialized potato-based ingredients to the food, feed and industrial markets worldwide.

Brenntag’s Regional President Nutrition North America, Kevin Hack, highlighted that this collaboration will enable the company to meet consumer demands for premium quality ingredients while driving its shared vision of a more sustainable and nutritious future.

“Together with Avebe, we’re proud to offer innovative plant-based potato ingredient solutions that address the growing consumer demand for sustainable, clean-label products,” Kevin said.

In alignment, Eric Laramee, the Director of IMM Nutrition North America, Brenntag Speciality, views the partnership as an exciting expansion of the ingredient distributor’s global reach, allowing it to offer their high-quality potato starch, protein and fiber products to the North American market.

“By building upon our established European presence and joining forces with Avebe, we are not only strengthening our global footprint but also providing sustainable and innovative solutions that cater to the diverse needs of our customers,” Eric stated.

With a strong focus on sustainability and clean label solutions, Avebe offers functional potato starches and proteins that support the growing demand for plant-based, allergen-free, and non-GMO food products.

“Partnering with Brenntag allows us to bring our high-quality, potato-based ingredients to customers across the U.S. with broader local support, expertise and reliability customers expect from Avebe. Together, we’re making it easier than ever for food producers and manufacturers to innovate with confidence,” Goos Wierbos, Global Business Lead Food, Avebe, commented.

Further underscoring the strategic value of the partnership, Joe Lombardi, Sales Director Food Americas at Avebe, said that working with Brenntag allows the company to target niche segments, including bakery, confectionery, dairy, and meat, with greater precision.

He noted that Avebe’s tailored solutions in functional proteins and specialty starches are designed to bring added value to food manufacturers looking to differentiate through advanced ingredient expertise.
