Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda wins bronze employer of the year award for job creation excellence

CCBU earns national recognition for fostering employment, entrepreneurship, and inclusive workplace growth in Uganda’s beverage sector.

UGANDA – Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has been honoured with the Bronze Employer of the Year Award by the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) in recognition of its significant contribution to job creation and entrepreneurship in the country.

The FUE, the officially accredited body representing Ugandan employers at the International Labour Organisation’s Annual Labour Conference, commended CCBU for its outstanding employment practices and socio-economic impact.

The recognition followed a rigorous evaluation process, including a verification visit to confirm evidence of the company’s job creation and business support initiatives.

A subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, CCBU employs more than 1,000 permanent and fixed-term contract workers and an additional 400 contractors across its four facilities, Namanve, Mbarara, Rwenzori, and Plastic Recycling Industries in Nakawa.

Beyond direct employment, the company supports hundreds of entrepreneurs through its extensive value chain, promoting local enterprise development and innovation across Uganda’s beverage industry.

Emmy Hashakimana, General Manager at CCBU, emphasized the company’s people-centered culture as key to its success.

“At CCBU, we invest in our people to foster an inclusive and thriving workplace that accelerates growth,” he said. “We attract, develop, and retain high-performing talent, empowering individuals to reach their full potential.”

He added that the company’s approach goes beyond creating jobs, focusing on collaboration, empathy, and authenticity to nurture a values-driven organizational culture.

In addition to the FUE recognition, CCBU was recently named Uganda’s Most Admired Brand at the Brand Africa 100 Uganda Awards. The company also received accolades for being the Most Admired Brand Contributing to a Better Africa and the Most Admired Brand Doing Good for Society and the Environment, highlighting its purpose-driven and socially responsible business model.

Earlier this month, CCBU expanded its Fanta portfolio with the launch of the new Fanta Pineapple flavour. Vivienne Olenyo, Frontline Manager for Coca-Cola Beverages, described it as a “bolder, fruitier” addition designed to deliver playful and refreshing enjoyment to consumers nationwide.

“We are thrilled to bring more variety to Ugandans with this vibrant addition,” Olenyo said, adding that the new product reflects the brand’s commitment to innovation and evolving consumer tastes.
