Coca-Cola HBC opens Cairo Digital Hub to support technology operations across Europe and Africa

The new Cairo facility will expand to 450 employees by 2027, strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional centre for digital engineering and technology services.

EGYPT – The Coca-Cola Company, through its strategic bottling partner Coca-Cola HBC, has inaugurated a new Digital Hub in Cairo, Egypt, that will develop and operate business-critical technology platforms supporting operations across 27 markets in Europe and Africa.

The investment marks a significant milestone in the company’s digital transformation strategy while reinforcing Egypt’s ambitions to become a regional technology and digital services hub.

The Cairo Digital Hub currently employs approximately 250 professionals and is expected to expand its workforce to 450 employees by 2027. According to the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the facility is projected to generate around US$34 million annually in digital export revenues for Egypt.

The new hub brings together specialists in artificial intelligence, software engineering, quality assurance, user experience design and agile delivery. It will serve as a centre for developing and managing business-critical digital platforms supporting Coca-Cola HBC’s operations across Europe and Africa.

The Cairo facility joins the company’s existing digital hubs in Sofia, Bulgaria, and Athens, Greece. Coca-Cola HBC said the new centre will lead software engineering and development as part of its international technology network of more than 500 professionals managing over 130 software products.

Among the first initiatives being developed at the hub are an artificial intelligence-powered application that enables field sales teams to personalise promotions in real time and an enhanced customer portal designed to improve customer engagement.

Coca-Cola HBC, the Swiss-headquartered strategic bottling partner of The Coca-Cola Company, serves approximately 750 million consumers across 29 markets. The company established its presence in Egypt in 2022 through the acquisition of The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Egypt, creating the foundation for the latest digital investment.

According to Ahmed Elzaher, discussions with Coca-Cola HBC began in 2024 as part of efforts to position Egypt as a competitive destination for global digital services and business operations.

The collaboration resulted in a memorandum of understanding signed during the Global Offshoring Summit, covering digital export expansion, specialised talent development and the scaling of advanced technology operations.

Elzaher described the Digital Hub as “a milestone in the partnership between Egypt and multinational technology investors,” adding that it reflects the government’s commitment to developing digital talent and expanding the country’s digital exports.

The investment aligns with Egypt’s digital economy strategy launched in 2022 to attract multinational technology companies. ITIDA said the country signed agreements with 55 global and local companies during 2025 that are expected to create more than 75,000 jobs over three years, with Coca-Cola HBC among the participating investors.
