Givaudan opens new Indonesia production facility to boost food flavour innovation

Givaudan’s new Cikarang facility expands flavour production capacity, creates jobs, and strengthens support for Southeast Asia’s fast-growing food and beverage industry.

INDONESIA – Givaudan has officially opened a new state-of-the-art production facility in Cikarang, Indonesia, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities to meet rising demand for food flavour solutions in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing food and beverage markets.

The investment supports the company’s long-term growth strategy while expanding its ability to serve customers across the region.

The new facility spans 24,000 square metres on a 50,000-square-metre site and will initially create around 60 jobs, with additional employment opportunities expected as operations expand.

The site will manufacture savoury, sweet and snack flavour powders for a wide range of food applications, enabling Givaudan to respond more efficiently to evolving consumer preferences and customer requirements.

The production site also incorporates sustainability-focused technologies, including solar energy systems, rainwater harvesting, green electricity partnerships, energy-efficient lighting and advanced water management systems.

These features are designed to reduce the facility’s environmental footprint while improving operational efficiency and resilience.

Christian Stannkoetter, Chief Executive Officer of Givaudan, said the investment reflects the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in strategic growth markets.

We are delighted to open this new facility in Cikarang, the latest example of Givaudan’s long-term commitment to Indonesia. This significant investment is aligned with our 2030 strategy of increasing our presence in strategic high-growth markets, enabling us to extend our customer reach, capture new growth opportunities while strengthening our contribution to the local economy,” he said.

Antoine Khalil, President of Taste & Wellbeing, highlighted the region’s growing importance to the global food industry.

“The food and beverage industry in Southeast Asia is a rapidly growing, diverse ecosystem driven by abundant regional flavours and an increasingly technology-enabled landscape. By expanding our capabilities, we aim to support our customers in delivering differentiated food experiences and innovations that consumers love,” Khalil said.

The opening follows Givaudan’s recent strategic partnership and equity investment in Swiss company Microcaps AG to strengthen its technology portfolio across its Fragrance & Beauty division.

Commenting on that partnership, Maurizio Volpi, President of Fragrance & Beauty, said, “The partnership with Microcaps is a strategic step that further strengthens our innovation capabilities.”

The new Indonesia facility further reinforces Givaudan’s investment in regional manufacturing capacity, flavour innovation and sustainable production as demand for differentiated food experiences continues to grow across Southeast Asia.
