Finlays acquires Leahy-IFP to strengthen position in global natural beverage market

The acquisition enhances Finlays’ presence in North America and expands its capabilities in natural fruit-based and extract beverages.

UK – Finlays, a global B2B beverage solutions provider, has announced the acquisition of Leahy-IFP, a leading Illinois-based aseptic packer and formulator of natural fruit-based beverages.

The move aims to strengthen Finlays’ position in the fast-growing natural beverage segment and expand its footprint across North America.

Under the agreement, Leahy-IFP will be integrated into Finlays’ global extracts division, Finlays Solutions, creating a unified platform to serve brand owners, retailers, and foodservice operators worldwide.

The acquisition effectively doubles Finlays’ operational presence in the region and enhances its production capabilities in the foodservice channel.

The combined business leverages Finlays’ expertise in tea, coffee, and botanical extracts alongside Leahy-IFP’s strengths in fruit-based beverages, including emerging categories such as Refreshers.

Together, the companies aim to deliver a full-service offering spanning sourcing, product development, manufacturing, and packaging.

Finlays emphasized that both organizations share deep family-owned roots and closely aligned values, ensuring a smooth cultural and strategic integration. The process is expected to be completed by January 2026.

Following the merger, the new entity will be chaired by James Woodrow, group managing director of Finlays, with Mike Leahy of Leahy-IFP appointed deputy chair and Darnell Ross named chief executive officer.

“This is a transformational moment for both companies,” said Woodrow. “Together, we’ll empower our customers to create a world where every sip brings joy.”

Leahy added: “By joining Finlays, we can build on our 65-year heritage and create new opportunities for our people, customers, and partners.”

With operations across seven US sites, as well as in the UK and Kenya, the expanded network reinforces Finlays’ long-term vision to drive sustainable growth in natural beverages globally.
