The company’s first consumer-facing whiskey release will debut at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival before limited nationwide distribution this autumn.

USA – American whiskey producer MGP Ingredients has launched MGP Distillery, marking its first move into consumer-facing brands with a limited-edition 10-year-old straight bourbon whiskey.
The inaugural release, MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows, will debut at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival before being rolled out in limited quantities nationwide in the US this autumn. The bourbon carries a suggested retail price of US$69.99 for a 750ml bottle.
Produced at MGP Ingredients’ largest facility in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the release marks the return of the MGP Distillery name to the site, which was renamed Ross & Squibb Distillery in 2021. The facility also produces Luxco brands including Remus and Penelope.
“The MGP name has built incredible equity over generations because of the quality of the products we make and the people behind them,” said MGP Ingredients CEO Julie Francis.
“We’ve been making whiskey and spirits that others have proudly put their names on for decades. Bringing the MGP name back to the distillery and launching MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows is an exciting opportunity to share that story directly with consumers,” Francis said.
MGP Chapter One was aged in Rickhouse G, one of the Lawrenceburg facility’s prized warehouses. The bourbon uses the classic LBSV mashbill comprising 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley.
The launch comes after MGP Ingredients announced in April that it would pause production for at least a year at its two Kentucky facilities, Limestone Branch Distillery and Lux Row Distillers.
Production at the Lawrenceburg facility, where MGP Chapter One is being produced, was unaffected by the planned pauses.
The company’s move into consumer-facing whiskey brands also follows a decline in its whiskey business, with whiskey sales falling 42% in its most recent financial results.
MGP Ingredients, headquartered in Kansas, has historically supplied whiskey and other spirits that have been marketed under customers’ brands. The MGP Distillery launch brings the company’s name directly to consumers through its own branded bourbon.
MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows will be available in limited quantities nationwide in the US this fall at a suggested retail price of US$69.99 per 750ml bottle.
