The acquisition boosts Mount Everest Breweries’ production capacity and accelerates its nationwide expansion strategy in India’s beer market.

INDIA – Mount Everest Breweries Ltd (MEBL), a subsidiary of Associated Kedia Group, is set to strengthen its presence in South India with the acquisition of Mysuru-based Cheers Breweries Ltd.
This expansion is part of MEBL’s strategy to reach 20 states by FY26 and capture approximately 8 per cent of India’s beer market by 2030.
The Mysuru facility, with an annual capacity of 1.5 million hectolitres, marks a significant milestone for the company.
Executives estimate the acquisition will generate Rs 350–400 crore in incremental revenue by FY28, driving 15–18 per cent topline growth over the next three to four years.
Vedant Kedia, Whole-time Director at MEBL, said Karnataka represents the future of India’s beer culture and the acquisition marks both a strategic and symbolic step. The company is financing the deal through a mix of internal accruals and structured debt to cover acquisition, capital expenditure and working capital requirements.
Production at the Mysuru brewery will commence in the first week of September, increasing MEBL’s total capacity to 3.5 million hectolitres from 2.0 million—a 75 per cent boost. Bengaluru’s young and experimental consumer base has already attracted strong retailer interest in partnering with MEBL.
The company stated that the Mysuru acquisition forms part of a broader plan to develop four brewery hubs across India. This will reduce reliance on its central and northern plants and enable faster access to markets in Karnataka, Puducherry, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala by the end of Q3 FY26.
MEBL plans a phased rollout across Karnataka’s 71 state depots by November, beginning with 45 depots in Phase 1 and completing the remaining 26 in Phase 2.
The Karnataka portfolio will include brands such as Mount’s 6000, Lemount and STOK in multiple pack sizes, along with draft beer supplied in 20-litre kegs for select on-trade outlets.
